Elisha Brinkley and Decendants

The first Brinkley known to have come to America was Michael, in 1635.

In 1684, Jacob Brinkley of Woodbridge, England, came to America and preempted land in both Nansemond County, Virginia and Gates County, North Carolina, around the Great Dismal Swamp.

Freddie L. Brinkley, in "The Brinkley & Allied Families of Nansemond County, Virginia and Gates County, North Carolina," Gateway Press, Inc, Baltimore, MD 1994, stated that Jacob Brinkley had two sons:

Peter Brinkley, married Anne Eley, daughter of William Eley and had a large family.  However, only one son, William Brinkley was identified in the Julia (Franklin) Brinkley account.

Isaac Brinkley (It is speculated that he may have had no children or at least no sons).

Elisha Brinkley is likely a descendant of Jacob.  Elisha's father is also believed to be named Elisha.
